This educational motion graphic explains what cavities are including symptoms, treatments, types and preventions. The Pink Panther theme song supports the narrative of cavities creeping up on you. The audience is children and young adults. The text and imagery is timed to the music (based off the music map). 3D text makes it stand out and advanced my After Effects knowledge.
User testing informed me that illustrations were visually important for the audience to remember what is being explained such as a symptom being bad breath. Movement and labelled diagrams break down the text making it easier to retain. The call to action emphasises the purpose and leads to information on New Zealand dental care.
Music Map (plan for making the motion graphic)
Hot N Cold by Katy Perry is an upbeat song however, I wanted to highlight the idea behind the song being about a breaking relationship. I used kinetic typography and animated words to do that action with ‘yes’ nodding or ‘rollercoaster’ moving like a real ride.
I started by sketching storyboards, making mood boards and used Illustrator for illustrations. I explored different layouts and movements while deciding upon the most effective kinetic type options for the lyrics. In After Effects I used masks, animators, different axis, easing, effects, pre comps, illustrations and textures to keep elements moving. Kinetic typography and motion are used to visualise the narrative.
